Sectoral Trends in Canada’s Greenhouse Gas Emissions 1990-1998, (2000)

SGA initiated what has become an annual evaluation for the GHG Division by providing a detailed analysis of sectoral trends in GHG emissions. Using reporting templates developed by SGA the GHG Division has continued to update the trends report in subsequent years for public reporting. The final report was used as a basis for the EC website reporting on Canadian trends http://www.ec.gc.ca/pdb/ghg/factsheets_e.cfm .
Using data compiled largely by the Greenhouse Gas Division of the Pollution Data Directorate, Environment Canada over the period 1990 to 1998, SGA identified the trends in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions on a provincial and sectoral basis to provide an understanding of their nature, causes and their sources.
The seven sections in the final report analyze emission trends in terms of both large sources and important Canadian economic sectors. Following a national overview, six economic sectors are subject to analysis:
