Greenhouse Emissions Mitigation Consortium (GEMCo): Strategic Development (1995)

Clients: a consortium of 12 western energy companies; electric utilities, upstream oil, upstream and downstream natural gas and pipeline companies. These included - TransAlta, WestCoast Energy, Edmonton Power, Alberta Power, TransCanada Pipelines, Consumers Gas, Shell Oil.

The GEMCo partners came together to collectively develop a basis for putting in place technically sound and cost efficient carbon offset projects. By working with private and public sector interests SGA provided strategic advice and analysis to GEMCo. We developed a prospectus and business plan for the group. SGA identified and scoped out the first project, the Prairie Soils Carbon Sequestration Initiative. SGA helped define the parameters of the project which prepared it for funding
