  Training and Facilitation: The Canada-China Cooperation in Climate Change Project (2002-2003)

Client: Environment Canada, Greenhouse Gas Division

SGA provided ongoing training and facilitation services for missions in Canada and to China between technical experts from both countries. SGA developed Chinese specialist capacities to strengthen GHG inventory formats, planning and technical approaches.

The objective of the Program was for Canada to share information with Chinese counterparts from the appropriate research agencies and other industries, academic institutions and government agencies on specific GHG source estimation and reporting methods.

The Workshop was devoted to three GHG emission sources:

  • Fugitive emissions from the upstream oil and gas sector;
  • Emissions from use of fluoride compounds, HFCs, PFCs and SF6 and;
  • Process emissions from aluminum production.

In addition the Workshop presented and discussed emission forecast methods and models with particular emphasis on energy related emission forecasts.
