FACILITY GHG INVENTORY: Municipal Waste Water Treatment Plant (2008-09)

The Hespeler waste water treatment plant has been reviewed to increase robustness of the plant effluent quality. The Region of Waterloo, which operates under a mandate of environmental stewardship, retained SGA Energy Ltd to conduct a Facility Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory of the Hespeler operation. This was the first GHG Facility Inventory to have been made within the Region. SGA developed a baseline inventory of climate-forcing gases that result from current plant operation. In the process SGA developed an inventory template and instructions for continued use. The baseline may be compared with future emission inventories under selected upgrade scenarios.
